Must Try Air Fryer Recipes (Vegan!) (2024)

You MUST try these AIR FRYER recipes – it’s like having really bad food without the guilt…! Watch this video and see below for the written recipes:

I’ve just discovered my new favourite kitchen gadget… and it is an AIR FRYER!! I am seriously obsessed – I can’t even begin to explain the gloriousness that is this air fryer. The one that I’m using is the Avalon Bay Air Fryer… and yes, this post/video is sponsored by Avalon Bay and yes, all opinions are my own.

If you’d like to get your hands on one of these air fryers, you can get it here and don’t forget to use the code LAZYVEGAN to get yourself 20% off!

I was quite skeptical about the whole concept of “air frying”. I thought it might be a redundant kitchen tool since I already have an oven. However, there is a huge difference between an air fryer and an oven, as I’ve come to realize.

  1. No need to pre-heat an air fryer.
  2. Air fryers work faster and seem to be much “stronger”.
  3. Food turns out a lot more “crispy” than when using an oven – so it really does taste like it’s been fried… in air. I feel like an oven has more dispersed heat and an air fryer is smaller so the heat is more concentrated.
  4. Air fryers are much smaller in size and are great for those that might not have access to an oven… excellent gadget for college students living in dorms!

Fried Brussel Sprouts (2 ways)

Buffalo Brussel Sprouts:

Spicy Teriyaki Brussel Sprouts:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brussel sprouts (I used frozen brussel sprouts that I thawed)
  • 1 tbsp corn starch + 1 tbsp water
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs OR almond flour (use almond flour for gluten-free. For crispier result, I would use bread crumbs)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Sauce of choice – for one of them, I used Frank’s Hot Sauce for the Buffalo and for the other, I used teriyaki & sriracha.

Instructions:

  1. On a plate, mix together bread crumbs OR almond flour along with the spices – salt, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together cornstarch and water.
  3. With one hand, dip each individual brussel sprout in the cornstarch mixture and coat well. Then with your other hand, roll the brussel sprout in the bread crumb/almond flour mixture until nicely coated. Repeat until all the brussel sprouts have been coated.
  4. Place them into the air fryer for 15 minutes at 375 degrees F.
  5. Once they are finished, you can toss them with the sauce of your choice. I used Frank’s Hot Sauce for the Buffalo style and I used a mix of teriyaki and sriracha for the Spicy Teriyaki.
  6. Enjoy!!!

Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients:

  • 1 sweet potato, peeled
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Seasonings of choice! I used salt and garlic powder.

Instructions:

  1. Cut your sweet potato into long and thin shapes.
  2. In a big bowl, add oil and your favourite seasonings and toss well.
  3. Add into the air fryer for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees F – mixing/tossing them half way.

Spicy Korean Fried Chicken-Style Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 1 block extra firm tofu
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup almond flour OR bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds (optional)
  • Sauce –
    • 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean red hot pepper paste)
    • 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
    • 4 tbsp ketchup
    • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
    • 1 tbsp garlic powder (or you can use 1 clove of fresh minced garlic)

Instructions:

  1. Press your tofu to take out some of the liquid for about 10-20 minutes… I’ll be honest, I rarely do this because I don’t have the patience.
  2. Cut up your tofu into small bite sized pieces.
  3. Add your tofu pieces into a mixing bowl and add in soy sauce, sesame oil and rice vinegar. Mix until well combined.
  4. Toss your tofu pieces with almond flour or bread crumbs until each piece is nicely coated.
  5. Add into your air fryer at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes – moving them around at around the halfway point to make sure they cook evenly.
  6. While your tofu is in the air fryer, you can prepare the sauce by adding all the sauce ingredients into a small bowl and mixing very well.
  7. When your tofu is finished, mix in the sauce and sesame seeds (optional) so that the tofu is nicely coated in the delicious red sauce.
  8. Now you can enjoy….!!! Warning: these are ridiculously addictive!
