structured Waupun Area Chamber of Commerce is to promote the Waupun area as a tourist spot so the committee has chosen John Hyland to be the speaker at its annual appreciation dinner to be held at Jon Van's Saturday eb 27 Hyland who has been in chamber management for 14 years is the chief executive officer of the Door County Chamber of Commerce which has its offices in Sturgeon Bay During the 10 years he has held this position membership increased from 395 to 655 and dues increased from S43000 to 5160000 Of its total 1982 budget of nearly 5200000 it has set a promotional budget ot nearly SlUOtXX) IN HIS professional career Hyland has served three terms as president and 10 years on the executive board of the East Wisconsin Waters Regional Tourism Association He is a past president of served on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Association of Manufacturers and Commerce and was a member of the board of directors of the Wisconsin Tourism ederation In his private life he was a teacher and coach for 10 years and a businessman for eight years He served five years as a district deputy in the Knights of Columbus and 15 years as church lector Gib Krohn and Betty Markhardt are co chairmen of the committee in charge of the dinner Krohn will perform master of ceremonies duties CHAMBER president Bill Higman and Waupun mayor Harold Num merdor will present brief messages and Marshall Bernhagen Randy Ver Hage ad Don Leisten will be recognized as retiring directors The 1981 mother of the year and father of the year will be awarded plaques and the traditional Community Service award will be presented During the social hour that precedes the dinner music will be furnished by Tom Jansma in Jon Van's lower level banquet room Annexation Pact Collapses Council Again little bit" Eberle maintained if the council approved the measure Monday night the incentive fo negotiate would be lost while Tierney said his firm would continue to talk even if the annexation was residents for dragging out talks by bringing up new issues when it appeared agreements had been reached have bent to the township's requests again again and he said Town Supervisor Karl Eberle told the council that significant progress has been made in talks so far but major issues have not been resolved He said Wiscold has not satisfied the township's request for a demonstrated need for the annexation nor has it offered a satisfactory plan to show compatibility with surrounding land use A new twist was added to the annexation dispute Monday night when at Her Own Pay Raise By JE HOVIND Beaver Dam Mayor Vi Schneider broke a 6 6 deadlock Monday night on a Common Counil resolution to raise the mayor's salary by rejecting the measure which would have increased the mayor's annual pay to 520000 beginning with the spring term Before the vote Schneider asked the aidermen to withhold the raise and use the funds for energy conservation work at the Senior Citizen's Center THE RESOLUTION to raise the mayor's salary was recommended by the personnel committee and is needed to insure the city will continue to attract qualified candidates for mayor according to committee member Thomas Olson He pointed out the increase would have only raised Roberts a candidate for the 12th ward council seat asked Personnel Com mittee Chairman William letcher when the resolution had been discussed since a com mittee member said at a committee meeting Jan 28 the mayoral pay hike had already been discussed before that meeting letcher said the measure was dicussed one to another with me There was no discussion (at the committee meeting) because people had made up their mind on Voting against the pay raise were Aidermen Nancy Conley Carol Herbrand Bernard Neiman Anthony Notheis Mary Rosplock and Gerald Zehren In favor of the increase were Olson Muriel Lidtke Bernard Zellner Philip Goetz Hugh Ganske and letcher Low bidders who received contracts for the following amounts were: Thomas Chevrolet Buick 518560 for a dump truck and Howard ord $10835 for a platform truck and $6366 for a pick up The Board of Public Works had budgeted $29000 for the dump truck $11000 for the platform and $6300 for
